Anyone up for the Phoenix area? I’m thinking either Tempe, or up near Desert Ridge (good bars, easy highway access). If so, respond here and we can start organizing… |
I demand you call it HotSec! |
Only if you want to overload the name: http://www.usenix.org/events/hotsec07/ |
Ok. Atlanta is a better HotSec anyways. Phoenix should be DrySec. Matt, are you in Phoenix? |
LA, actually. I suggested Westwood Brewing in the LASec thread because it’s walking distance to my apartment :) |
We could go with SunSec, but at this point I’d settle for someone else saying they’ll show up. I mean we all know I can amuse myself, but doing it alone in public is fairly pathetic. |
How about SecaSec (seca being Spanish for ‘dry’). |
I’d be up for anywhere, but would prefer Tempe. I know about 4+ other people who would be interested in attending as well. |
Id be interested in a Tempe meeting, its relatively central, and most importantly only a few miles away from me :) Anyone got a date suggestion? Next Tuesday (22nd) or Thursday (24th) perhaps? |
Yeah, we’re local to Tempe (East Valley) as well. Won’t be back in town until the 24th, so something around 7 to 8 pm would work. Some places that would work are a coffee shop, e.g. Starbucks or a restaurant with a nice patio, e.g. Tilted Kilt (except they have crappy food). |
I was thinking that DosGringos, or Four Peaks are also good choices. Maybe someone else will speak up with a better solution. |
Ill throw Buffalo Wild Wings at Alma School and the 60 into the hat aswell |
I’ll second the nomination for Four Peaks; definitely needs to be someplace with beer. Time for a headcount? Go reply if you’re in, and we can start working out a date/time. |
I’m in along with 3 others if we can do Four Peaks @ 7:00 PM on Thursday, May 24th (I’ll try to get them to sign up and respond to this forum too). |
Thursday at 7 works for me! Ill see if I can drag some of my staff with me. max 2 or 3 more id guess. |
should we push it to next week to give us time to promote it better? |
Both work for me, this thursday and next, but if were going to push it , we should probably go ahead and do it now….vliu? how does this impact you and yours. |
I say we push it and I’ll ask Tom to promote on the blog. Okay with everyone? |
Confirm that it’s next Thursday, May 31? Happy to yell on the blog about it. |
I’m in for next Thursday May 31…im sure most of my team will make it, so there will be atleast 5 or 6 of us. Thanks for the promote Tom! |
31 it is! Run it please :) |
Turns out I’ll be a little late, but I’ll still be there. Let’s all wear something with a geek/vendor logo on it since we don’t know each other yet. I should be there no later than 8. |
Im pretty sure that my team is going to head over after work, and I got the message a little late to logo coordinate the troops…but we’ll be in the back near the kegs, I think that is the optimal spot for conversation. Ill be wearing a blue polo with white stripes. Ill keep an eye out for geekwear! See ya there Rich. |
SunSec 1 was a great start! We had a headcount of 7 and a lot of good conversation. A few of us have decided that we are going to make it a recurring last Thursday of the month event. The next location is up in the air. I hope to work with Rich and Adam to choose a quieter venue for the next event. I hope to see more valley residents at the next gathering! |
I suggest Furio in Old Town Scottsdale. It’s kind of funky, good happy hour food, and still a central location. |
